To celebrate the launch of the new Kids Corner outreach booklet - A Nation of Explorers, a co-production of NASA, Kids Corner, and Lockheed Martin, we will have tons of free space books to give out all weekend! Plus, each day at 3:30pm you and your family will have a chance to meet a real United States Astronaut Ken Reightler, Jr. at the Kids Corner Corner!
Ken was the pilot of the Space Shuttle Discovery for two missions. The first was in September 1991 when the crew successfully deployed the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite, designed to provide scientists with their first complete data set on the upper atmosphere's chemistry, winds and energy inputs. More recently, he served as pilot on Discovery's historic first joint US/Russian Space Shuttle Mission.
What's A Music Festival Without Music?
Besides all the wonderful musicians performing at the main stage of the Singer Songwriter Weekend, each day there will be live music specially for the family at the Kids Corner Stage, located in the Kids Corner Corner. Showtimes are 1:30pm and 2:30pm.
On Saturday, Bubboon & Bubbles, the creators of "The Cheese Song", will have families humming like crazy! This husband and wife team of William and Jennifer Winegardner offers a good dose of comedy with their music!
On Sunday, Milkshake, one of the newest bands heard on Kids Corner, this duo of Lisa Mathews and Mikel Gehl play pop-rock songs similar to their adult rock band alter ego, LOVE Riot.
